David Nanambi Wakyiku

David started off his investment career at Credit Suisse Securities (Europe) Ltd, working as a quantitative strategist on the fixed income and rates exotics desk. He later joined BlueCrest Capital Management (UK) LLP, a multi-billion dollar hedge fund. At BlueCrest, David was a trading analyst on the FX derivatives desk, where he was involved in the development of equity index strategies dealing with the data aspects, trading strategy back-testing and business intelligence tools atop of a quantitative trading platform.
David later joined a Nairobi-based private equity firm, where he was responsible for generating deal flow, business plan evaluation and provision of indicative valuations of SMEs. He was part of the team carrying out data-driven commercial due diligence on target companies.
David has a first class Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Makerere University, specializing in renewable energy. During and after his degree, he participated in energy-use and mini-hydro feasibility study projects under GTZ and the Centre for Research in Energy and Energy Conservation (MUK). He also lectured Engineering Mathematics and Electromagnetism in the Faculty of Technology, MUK.
David was a Victor Rothschild scholar in Mathematical Finance at the University of Cape Town/AIMS, and won a summer data studentship at CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research. He later joined the University of Cambridge, as a Commonwealth Cambridge scholar, where he obtained a Masters of Advanced Study (Part III of the Mathematical Tripos). He also read Financial Derivatives at the London Business School and Financial Computing at University College London as an ESPRC scholar. David is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA).
