Convened by the Government of Liberia through the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA), the National Fisheries Investment Conference was recently held in Monrovia, Liberia. The gathering brought together senior government officials, development partners, investors, and private sector actors to explore pathways for unlocking investment in Liberia’s blue economy. The event was graced by His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr alongside cabinet ministers and international stakeholders, ASIGMA was represented at a policy dialogue on “Strengthening Partnerships for Blue Economy Development” with Kevin Abuka, Manager, Investment Advisory at ASIGMA, moderating the session.
Strengthening partnerships for blue economy development
During the session, ASIGMA’s Manager, Investment Advisory, Kevin Abuka, CFA led the moderation of discussions focusing on strengthening public-private collaboration, mobilising investment and aligning ecosystem actors to support sustainable growth within the fisheries and aquaculture sector. The dialogue emphasised the role of partnerships in unlocking capital, building infrastructure, and supporting long-term sector development.

The conference also highlighted the scale of opportunity within Liberia’s fisheries sector, with an estimated 348,503 tonnes of exploitable fish biomass and increasing focus on aquaculture, processing, and value chain development as drivers of economic growth.
